Deborah Smith
Director of Education - The Manchester Diocese
Director of Education for Manchester Diocese from November 2019; previously worked as Deputy Director of Education for Carlisle Diocese. Over 30 years’ experience in education and has taught across Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 through to Higher Education. As a senior lecturer at Liverpool Hope University, delivered on both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. Achieved Master of Science degree in Education and is a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching; also an experienced SIAMS inspector. Passionate about the way education can open opportunities for all children and supports the Church of England vision for education of ‘life in all its’ fullness’ being made available to all.

Reverend Vincent Whitworth
Vicar at St. Bede Parish Church
Reverend Vincent Whitworth has been part of the St. Bede family since 2019 as Vicar of St. Bede Parish Church. As a Trust Member and Local Governor, he brings a wealth of experience in educational governance, having served as a Governor, Trustee and Member for a number of schools and trusts across Bolton. He is dedicated to nurturing the Christian vision and values of both the Academy and the Trust, regularly leading collective worship and supporting the pupil Ethos Group. Reverend Whitworth is deeply committed to the close and valued relationship between St. Bede Church and St. Bede CofE Primary Academy and looks forward to supporting its continued growth in the years ahead.

Venerable Simon Cook
Archdeacon of Salford and Bolton
Archdeacon of Salford and Bolton since August 2026, Simon previously served as Area Dean of Bolton from 2021 and spent ten years as a Parish Priest in Bury, following three years as a Curate in Salford. He is passionate about the transformative impact of education on young people, families and communities, and values the role of Church schools in serving the common good for people of all faiths and none, inspired by the teaching and example of Jesus Christ. Simon has extensive governance experience, having served as a Governor, Trustee and Member across a range of primary schools, secondary schools and academy trusts, as well as a Trustee for several charitable organisations. He is married to a Headteacher and has two sons.
